Dear beautiful, strong, competent, intelligent, hilarious best friend of mine,

HAPPY 29TH BITCH! Welcome to the year where we apparently do not exist as we go into hibernation before emerging as youthful 30 year olds (yes I added this sentence this week after you sent that video).

I am so incredibly lucky to have such an amazing person in my life; and I know that everyone in your orbit feels the same. It's the farthest we've ever been from each other on your birthday, but somehow the longer distance friendship has felt easier to figure out this time around. I think it's because we've started to get really good at staying close even when we're far apart, or it might just be that I'm riding the high of having you live so much closer for a couple years. Regardless, I am grateful for every group chat text, D&D session, and spontaneous FaceTime call that keeps me connected to this new exciting life you are building in Switzerland.

Because you are in SWITZERLAND!! With your love!! In a program that is exciting and challenging and interesting!! Making new friends and meeting hurdles dead on and finding time to explore new creative processes. I am in awe of you. What you are accomplishing as you finish out your 20s is inspiring and bragging about you is one of my new favorite hobbies.

I am very sorry I can't be there to wish you a happy birthday in person, and to give you your presents (I made this website card because I Googled how expensive shipping was lol). There were going to be pictures of you as a baby that I got from your mom btw, but Avery and I had a conversation about AI so now we're not doing that (long story, not important, don't worry about it). The good news about me not being there though, is that who even cares because you're literally in an Italian villa right now in springtime with the love of your life and that kinda sounds like the dream scenario!

I love you, and I can't wait to see you soon, and to dance our faces off in September when we celebrate Annalise's wedding to the love of HER life because how wonderful is it that we have found both our platonic and romantic partners in life.

This is a significantly more coherent birthday wish than the manic birthday posts you used to get from me on Facebook, but know that if I was stuck in a Physics classroom again for some reason causing chaos, there's no one else I'd rather sit next to <3
